DeitY, Odisha's IT Dept. conduct e-governance workshop

BHUBANESWAR, INDIA: The Department of Electronics and IT (DeitY) and Odisha Government's IT Department had conducted a consultation workshop on "Citizen Centric e-Government" on Thursday. This workshop was conducted in partnership with NASSCOM and co-partnership with TATA, DWELL and Mastek.

While inaugurating the workshop, Minister of Industries and excise Niranjan Pujari, said, "Odisha has built the necessary infrastructure to address the needs of G2C and G2B services. But we hope that more and more departments come out with more citizen centric services for benefit of the common man."

Pujari also said that, IT will continue to be the top agenda of the government for implementing various e-governance projects.

According to the B K Pattnaik, Chief Secretary of Odisha, four areas, namely; IT Infrastructure, application software, process re-engineering and ownership of the project needs to be improved.

He has asked the collectors and district officials to ensure that horizontal connectivity is provided by BSNL to key officers at District and Block level, so that the e-Governance citizen centric projects are carried out in a time bound manner.

Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT, Government of India, Rajiv Gauba addressed the status of Odisha's progress in different components of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). "The need of the hour is to implement and roll out MMPs like e-district which are essential for meeting the objectives of NeGP," said Gauba.
