DCM gears up with SAP

BANGALORE: SAP today announced that automotive component manufacturer DCM Engineering Ltd has selected its mySAP ERP and SAP HR solutions to integrate its organizational information systems.

MySAP ERP and SAP HR solutions will be implemented across the finance, purchase, logistics, sales, manufacturing, HR and quality assurance functions. With these solutions, the Rs 200-crore company hopes to create a robust, easily maintainable information system to increase productivity, reduce rejections, shorten order-to-delivery cycle times, control material costs, improve cash flows and decrease inventory levels.

"SAP's strong functionalities and integration between modules will facilitate a reliable, single source on-line information system to enable us to provide better service levels for external and internal customers," said Rakesh Dhamani, chief financial officer, DCM Engineering Ltd.

He added that SAP was chosen because of its strong presence in the automotive and automotive component manufacturing sectors compared with other competitors.

Speaking at the implementation of SAP at DCM Engineering, Alan Sedhi, president and managing director, SAP South Asia said, "The Indian automotive component industry is rapidly establishing itself as a supplier of choice in the international arena. We are happy that DCM Engineering has chosen SAP as part of its technology focus of developing IT support to enhance its global competitiveness."

DCM Engineering has opted for 50 licences at a single location and the expected "Go Live" date is January 1, 2006.
