NEW DLEHI: US-based Davox Corporation, a customer interaction software major,
will set up its Indian subsidiary to tap the business potential of the
exponential call center market in the country.
Davox' decision to set up the subsidiary was prompted by the sudden spurt in
call-center activity in the country in the last couple of quarters.
The company has already hired a country manager who will essentially focus on
the sales and marketing while the support service and help-desk operations will
be outsourced to three partners.
Currently Spectramind and Global Call Center have been chosen as its partners
while its third partner is yet to be determined.
India is among the three most potential markets for call centers in the
Asia-Pacific region along with Shanghai and Taiwan. But while these centers will
address the needs of the domestic markets and the Asian region at large, the
availability of English-speaking personnel in India gives an advantage over
other countries in addressing the needs of the US market.
Speaking about the latest initiative, vice president (Asia-Pacific) Pramod
Ratwani said, "We are planning to invest $10-15 million over the next two
years in the country."
Davox Corp, which has a turnover of $100 million, receives 30 percent of its
revenues from the Asia-Pacific region of which India contributes 20-25 percent.
