MUMBAI: Datamatics Technologies will open a new center in Chennai for its STM publishing customers. The company that specializes in content management is also shifting its focus towards back office operations.

Datamatics is in a JV with US based Cadmus for STM publishing business. Out of the 80 customers that the company currently has, this JV has seven of them. The 25,000 square feet facility in Chennai would cater the needs of all the domestic and international customers of Datamatics. The JV has staff strength of 200 people, which are based in Mumbai and plans are on to move around 50 people to Chennai in the first phase.

Datamatics CEO Manish Modi said, "Cadmus already has 35 percent market share in the US and we are a major player in Indian and European markets. As part of our expansion plan, we intend to open new facility in Chennai." The JV expects to cross $two million revenue mark in couple of years.

The company's core strength lies in content management, back office processes and related software services. Content management currently contributes 60 percent in company's revenues, while back office contributes 30 percent. Rest of the revenue comes from related software service revenues.

The company is now shifting its gears and is focusing more on back office processes. It is expecting around 60 percent revenue coming from this segment this year while 30 percent from content management. Datamatics generated revenue of Rs 107 crore in 2003-2004 and expects around 45 percent growth in its revenues next year.
