Data Domain to drive data de-dupe in India

BANGALORE, INDIA: Data Domain, a leader in data deduplication industry has announced the launch of its India operations. Owing to the emerging market trends in the data storage space, Data Domain India has started its operations based out of Bangalore and will expand to other cities over the years.

The company hopes to tap on the large enterprise customers and has already bagged orders from 12 companies including Sybase, Sandisk, EFY, UBS, etc., among others.

John feels that Data Domain, has a wide variety of solutions to offer and can cater to various segments of business. “The Data Domain systems come with extra protection measures to ensure that the stored data is accurate and recoverable,” he adds.

From its inception in 2003, Data Domain has helped customers reduce or eliminate the use of tape infrastructures with a very efficient disk- and network-based data protection alternative. Today, Data Domain customers are expanding the use of their systems to include a broad range of near line workloads and use cases beyond data protection. In essence, Data Domain’s file system technology represents a new generation of data versioning and replication efficiency.

Data Domain’s strategy is to continue bringing new storage and network efficiencies to the enterprise data storage arena on a single, integrated product platform to improve storage economics and simplify data management for its customers. Data Domain has launched DD690 in India along with the launch of its India operations. DD690 is a Scalable Deduplication Storage product for the Core Data Center.

C.Y Tan, Technical manager, Systems Engineering, Data Domain Inc., feels that with the advent of the DD690 customers can reduce the dependency of tapes in the data center and can have an infrastructure that is highly scalable for future needs.

Data Domain has revolutionized disk backup and remote office data protection with patented high-speed, in-line data deduplication. Backup data can be reduced in size by an average of 10X-30X, so disk backup storage is now cost-effective for long-term onsite retention and highly efficient for network-based replication to disaster recovery sites. Data Domain offers these advantages with the DD690 product.
