These new jobs will be around creating business opportunities out of data and most of them will be created in this part of the world (APAC), said Peter Sondergaard, senior vice president and global head of research at Gartner,

However, the Gartner analyst notes that lack of expertise in handling new category of job will result in only about a third of them being filled.

These are going to be jobs that involve analyzing huge data and turning them to business opportunities. Mathematics and analystics would be essential skills in handling such jobs, he noted.

Societies have evolved from being just based on agriculture then to industry and then to information technology. It is nothing unusual if this is going to be a new kind of job, he added.

Elaborating on the opportunity, Sondergaard said cloud is set to become an essential delivery platform and mobility will define the way employees would want to work. In such a scenario there is a vast amount of data being generated which can be turned into business opportunities, he said.
