KOLKATA: Notwithstanding his loss in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) election, the never-say-die Jagmohan Dalmia is now pitching for a new area - an IT park in Bantala, on the outskirts of Kolkata.

Speaking at the sidelines of Infocom 2005, Dalmia, who is the chairman of ML Dalmia and Co. said that the new 130-acre IT park would come up in the Calcutta Leather Complex (CLC) campus in Bantala.

Until recently, Dalmia had been trying rather unsuccessfully to woo the leather industry to CLC site. He is now hoping that IT would do the trick for him instead. Around Rs 240 acre has been invested into the IT campus which will enjoy SEZ status.

Dalmia said that many IT companies have expressed interested in investing in the park.

ML Dalmia and Co will act as the single window to help IT investors. The West Bengal Government plans to have 13 IT parks in the state in the next 30 months.
