BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa city of Bhubaneswar will soon see a Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) lab come up, thanks to a partnership deal inked between Cypress Semiconductor Corp and the Bhubaneswar Institute of Technology (BIT).
As per the deal, faculty and students of BIT would be imparted hands-on training and also free hardware kits and software tools by Cypress.
Meanwhile, BIT will provide the facilities for the laboratory, said a source. As part of the new move, it has also been pointed out that BIT would introduce PSoC training for its 120 students in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). As per the decision, BIT would bring into the curriculum courseware and lab material for its basic electronics labs on the PSoC platform, the source added.
The institute would kick off a two-semester course on PSoC, wherein the course materials will be developed by the faculty of BIT in collaboration with Cypress. According a news report in this regard, the new course will include theory as well as practical sessions. Further, the laboratory being set up would also be made available to students to get a feel of the PSoC platform.
