AHMEDABAD, INDIA: Cyberoam, a division of Elitecore and provider of identity-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances, today has announced that its CR Series appliance family has achieved West Coast Labs’ exclusive UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification for its antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, URL filtering, enterprise firewall, VPN and IPS technologies.

The UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification is certification available from West Coast Labs. Cyberoam’s UTM solution is built to meet the security and compliance needs of SME's to large enterprises, accommodating networks with ten to 5000 users.

Checkmark is the fastest growing certification system for information security products and services. Unlike other certification programs, the Checkmark testing criteria are peer reviewed by the West Coast Labs Technology Forum – a group of senior IT security professionals in major corporate organizations around the world -- to ensure that standards and accreditation criteria are an accurate reflection of real-world user requirements.

Cyberoam’s solution was tested against more than 850 viruses, which includes the current wild list, and nearly 1,000 in the anti-spyware test suite, including a variety of backdoors, downloaders, exploits, proxies, RATs, password stealers, crackers, hijackers and stealers of financial information.

In addition, Cyberoam’s VPN functionality was tested against unauthorized access, denial-of-service attacks, and that it could enforce policy on a per-user basis. Achieving UTM Level 5 certification signifies that Cyberoam’s firewall, antivirus, VPN, anti-spyware, URL filtering and IPS technologies collectively met the testing criteria.

Cyberoam is the only UTM provider on the market that embeds user identity in the firewall rule-matching criteria, eliminating IP addresses as intermediate components to identify and control the user. This offers instant visibility and provides proactive insight and control over multiple aspects of the network.
