CyberMedia net surges 82 p.c. Q-o-Q

NEW DELHI: CyberMedia India Ltd, south Asia’s first and largest specialty media house, today reported an increase of 24 per cent in its total income to Rs 26.30 crore from Rs 21.28 crore recorded during the same quarter last year.

The EBITDA increased by 25 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4.54 crore from Rs 3.64 crore in Q2 FY'06. For the second quarter ended on September 30, 2006, net profit was up by 16 per cent to Rs 2.31 crore from Rs 1.99 crore recorded during the second quarter of 2005.

On a sequential basis, the net profit of the company increased 82 per cent compared to Rs 1.26 crore posted during the last quarter. At the same time, total revenues have shown a growth of 37 per cent from Rs 19.26 crore posted during the Q1 of the current fiscal.

The company has registered a growth of 15 per cent in its earnings per share year-on-year and 82 per cent increase in quarter-on-quarter.

During the second quarter of this fiscal, revenues from publishing business have increased 23 per cent year-on-year to Rs 17.90 crore due to continued buoyancy of ad spent especially in the specialty media segment. Revenue from Internet business increased 14 per cent driven by growth in page views and unique visitors. Revenues from content services business up by 79 per cent due to increase in business volumes from existing clients including Encyclopedia Britannica.

The EBITDA margins maintained at 17.2 per cent for the second quarter, after absorbing operating losses in new businesses.

Total operating loses for the half-year ended September 30, 2006 are: Rs 1.40 crore in job board business and Rs 1.67 crore in content services business.

During the second quarter, Global Services achieves 32,000 opt-in subscribers and eight new clients. The company initiated productivity enhancement programme for taking it to the next level of growth. It also strengthened relationships with State governments through e-governance initiatives.

During the second quarter, revenues from media segment registered 23 per cent growth Y-o-Y to Rs 20.54 crore from Rs 16.63 crore with strong contributions from the established brands of the company in publishing and online domains. Profit before income tax margins increased to 24 per cent from 22 per cent in Q2 FY'06 driven by growth in average advertisement rates.

Meanwhile, media services segment witnessed a growth of nine per cent in revenues year-on-year to Rs 6.19 crore from Rs 5.68 crore in Q2 FY'06 due to 79 per cent Y-o-Y growth increase in content services business.
