Launched with an initial investment of $1 million, CyberBills India Private Limited will focus on the development of software solutions for Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) using the Internet. The service allows consumers to view, pay and manage securely over the Internet all of their bills (paper or electronic).

Speaking at the launch of the CyberBills India Private Limited, Mr. Murali Chirala, President of CyberBills Inc said, "Payment of bills — utility bills, credit cards, etc.- have always been time consuming and frustrating, especially in a developing country like India. Bill Management is a new concept, which offers convenience of payment of bills over the Internet. CyberBills is now offering an opportunity to consumers for a better control of their personal finances and helps make fast, prompt, convenient and secure payments of their bills online."

Discussing the Indian operations, he added, "The Indian operations were set up to leverage the excellent and high quality software talent available in India. With a growing appetite for Internet-based applications, especially those that can help in better management of customer relationships, billers, banks, and businesses in general are expected to evaluate the inclusion of EBPP into their ecommerce plans over the next five years."

Internet-based EBPP refers to the process that allows a biller to create and present an electronic bill or financial statement on its own Web site or through a third-party organization that makes the content available to the end users who ultimately are able to view and pay the bill over the Internet. EBPP products are sold as either software licenses or solutions that are priced with initial set-up fees and recurring transaction charges.
