CXOs and partners welcome new Microsoft framework

Microsoft yesterday launched a Cloud Accelerator Program (CAP) to boost cloud adoption among the government organizations and the BFSI segment in India

MUMBAI, INDIA: Microsoft customers and partners have welcomed the company’s initiatives to boost cloud computing in the country.

At its end, Microsoft yesterday launched a Cloud Accelerator Program (CAP) to boost cloud adoption among the government organizations and the BFSI segment in India.

Karan Bajwa, Managing Director, Microsoft India, said, “Our early-adopter customers are already seeing the benefits of cloud computing.”

Balkrishna Keroor, CEO and Principal Consultant, Mactores, said, “The plan to provide cloud services from local India data centers are awesome. Over 1 billion devices across various form factors and platforms, are connected to the Internet in India, this offers exciting opportunities for Azure. The prospect of offering cloud services from local data centers is very exciting for the consumer companies, as also BFSI organizations that want to migrate their business critical applications to Azure.”

According to Somick Goswami, National Business Development Leader, PWC, “Our partnership is a strategic fit where Microsoft will focus on its cloud solutions and products, while we will assist customers in their IT transformation journey--from assessment to strategy to architecture formulation to implementation to managed services in the cloud.”

Julie Woods-Moss, CEO Next Generation Business, Tata Communications, explained, “Our partnership builds on our existing relationship which sees Microsoft Azure’s ExpressRoute interconnecting to Tata Communications’ IZO Private, part of IZO-our flagship cloud enablement platform. By continuing to work together, we are poised to help companies in India through the adoption cycle.”

Rakesh Bhatt, Chief Operating Officer, Bajaj Finance, remarked, “We have moved our workload to Azure; this has simplified our business processes. The impending data center availability in India by Microsoft will undoubtedly be a great advantage for the financial sector as it will address data security, sovereignty and geo latency challenges readily.”

Rostow Ravanan, Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer, MindTree, commented, “We embarked on our cloud journey by adopting Office 365 and now have more than 80 percent of our workforce on Office 365. Our Intranet applications are hosted on SharePoint 2013 which has powered our social platform and enhanced collaboration within the organization. We have also partnered with Microsoft to offer Azure powered services to our customers.”

Karthi Chandramouli, Global Practice Head, Cloud, Tech Mahindra, opined that enterprises were prioritizing how to integrate cloud platforms with legacy systems. “Monetization plays a crucial role in driving cloud adoption and our repeatable, predictable and proven migration framework will provide attractive ROI, reduced cost, risk and complexity, and faster realization of value,” he said.

Anand Deshpande, Founder & CEO, Persistent Systems, and one of the oldest Microsoft partners, averred, “With initiatives like Microsoft Cloud Accelerator Program we can accelerate cloud adoption in BFSI which is currently under-penetrated by cloud. Early this year, we released a free, open source data center migration tool that helps customers move existing, virtual machines from one Azure data center to another.”

As Devendra Taneja, MD & CEO, PC Solutions, put it, “Microsoft’s decision to provide cloud services from India data centers has created a lot of interest amongst customers and partners. It is opening up new doors for innovation in the cloud for Indian customers, especially due to localized IPs available for local business needs.”

“Companies in the government and BFSI sectors are now diversifying in technology with big data analytics which is a first-class citizen of Azure under HDInsights,” shared Ajith George, Co-Founder and Director, Projects, Sysfore Technologies. The initiative would also encourage organizations to invest in evaluations and proof of concepts, highlighted Bobby MD, Vice President, Microland.

The CAP initiative has also excited apps developers.

Gopal Krishna, CEO, MMAD Apps, said that CAP has been designed for partners who have the experience, competency and skill, and can scale-up to deliver any kind of workload on the Microsoft cloud.”

“While continuing to deliver cost effective and innovative cloud solutions, we are building reusable assets in data center migration, cloud-based mobility and analytics which will reduce time-to-market and increase adoption. Joint go-to-market under the Cloud Accelerator Program, along with necessary sales, marketing and technical support will help both Microsoft and us to excel,” he added.
