The first release of the Curl Development tools for Eclipse (CDE) and newest release of the Curl Runtime Environment (RTE), Version 6.0.4, provide enterprise developers with the tools to build and deploy their mission-critical, enterprise-class RIAs within the increasingly popular Eclipse environment.

The CDE is a set of Eclipse plug-ins that provides an environment for developing programs in the Curl language for the Curl RIA platform. Curl recently announced its intention to eventually replace all of its development tools with Eclipse-based ones. The CDE and Curl IDE, the company’s original integrated development environment, will co-exist at least through the first full release of the new Eclipse-based tools.

“As the first major step in implementing our Eclipse strategy, we are excited now to provide Curl developers with access to the universal Eclipse IDE,” said Bert Halstead, vice president and chief architect, Curl. “By combining the highest-performing enterprise RIA platform, Curl, with the best general-purpose IDE, Eclipse, we are giving programmers with an updated set of development tools.”
