CSI kick starts national convention

MUMBAI: The Computer Society of India's (CSI) national convention kick started in Mumbai with an insight on different paradigms set by IT industry. The convention saw a confluence of technocrats, industry bigwigs and enterprise executives.





Deputy Governor of RBI, V Leeladhar inaugurated the convention. Speaking at the occasion, he said as the time is progressing, IT deployment in almost all verticals is becoming crucial. "The need is to make technology affordable to common man," he added.



Deepak Phatak, professor, IIT Bombay said that there is a need to create IT professionals who can think innovatively, if we want to compete with the other world and it's a CSI prerogative to do so.



The parallel tracks had sessions on IT in entertainment, innovative application and solutions, wherein CIOs threw light on application integration in enterprises and emerging database technologies.



There were other technology sessions on knowledge management and language, speech recognition and on banking and financial services as an industry vertical.
