Cross-platform development tool chain system launched

PUNE: KPIT Infosystems Ltd. has released a cross-platform development

tool-chain for embedded system developers based on GNU open source standard

marking its entry in the Open source movement. This product is branded as

"GNU-SH" version 0101 for Windows Host and Hitachi Target.

This tool chain contains C/C++ cross-compiler, linker and binary utilities

and is available for Windows 98/NT/2000 users. This has been specially built and

tested for Hitachi SuperH series of micro controllers and processors.

With this release, KPIT has combined its Embedded Technology expertise with

Open Source Technology. KPIT is giving free support to the embedded system

developers of Hitachi series of micro controllers and processors who will be

using the GNU-SH tool chain.

KPIT also plans to release the GNU-SH on GNU/Linux operating system along

with current Windows support as host platforms. KPIT is also working on several

embedded systems projects based on Hitachi processors and GNU-SH tool chain.





KPIT Infosystems achieved the SEI - CMM Level 4 in August last year. It provides
software development and maintenance services to clients in the financial,

manufacturing and software product industries. Its competencies include data

warehousing, business intelligence, application integration and embedded and

real-time systems.





The company plans to focus on three verticals - banking and finance, software
products and manufacturing. It also proposed to build competency in areas such

as data warehousing and business intelligence, embedded and real-time systems

and application integration.
