Cricket stadium goes wireless

KOCHI: D-Link India Ltd has wirelessly networked the entire media center of Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Kochi, for the first one-day international cricket match of the current series between India and Pakistan.






Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi has become second cricket stadium after Eden Gardens Kolkata to provide Wi-Fi connectivity in its media center. D-Link used DWL-2100 AP (Access Points) and DWL-G520 (Wireless LAN PCI Card) to Wi-Fi the media center.





The entire media center has been converted into a wireless hotspot. Around 150 journalists and media personnel are expected to come from across the globe to cover the match. According to the press release, these journalists will not be restrained by the wire for Internet connectivity and will enjoy the benefit of mobility and wireless connectivity. With help of D-Link access points and PCI cards the journalists will stay connected with the Internet and their office networks.





D-Link India sales (South) GM Venkatesh Kamath said, "We are delighted to convert the media center into a D-Link Wi-Fi Zone, and we appreciate the Kerala Cricket Association's initiative to provide such hi-tech facility to media at their stadium".
