BANGALORE: CoSystems
Technologies has introduced a family of VoIP products and frameworks based
on the IETF SIP Architecture, enabling Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to
leverage PC-to-PC VoIP solutions. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an IETF
standard to make voice or video calls over the Internet Protocol network.
CoSystems Technologies president, Srini R Srinivasan said,
"Deregulation of Internet telephony from April 2002, is a significant
opportunity for ISPs to provide exciting new products to corporate customers,
and eCommerce providers and improve their revenues in the longer term".
The package consists of subscriber installable software
phone, hardware phone and network infrastructure servers to provide SIP Proxy
services, call redirection and subscriber location services. The unique feature
is the usage of Open APIs to enable customization of specific functionalities,
Graphical User Friendly Screens and applications to suit different service
provider requirements. In addition, the solution can enable the Service Provider
to activate Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms for specific customers.
Even though basic PC-to-PC VoIP calling is freely available
from various sources on the Internet, these services do not include multi-party
conferencing, conference recording, email and voice mail integration, etc.
Corporate customers, who are looking at methods to optimally reduce business
communication costs, while maintaining communications efficiency, would be
interested in a fee-based value added VoIP service, which goes beyond the free
PC-PC calls.
Implementing SIP based VoIP services can open up huge
business potential for the ISPs. According Srinivasan, "ISP’s have the
option of charging a flat monthly tariff for unlimited basic voice services, and
can charge an additional tariff for premium services like Caller Line
Identification, Multiparty Voice Conferencing, Voice Recording, Voice Mail,
email integration, and Click-to-Call, etc at an additional tariff".
