Corel, Wipro team up for WordPerfect

NEW DELHI: Canada based Corel Corporation, a software product development company, is engaged in the development of the next version of its flagship product — WordPerfect with Indian software major Wipro. "The product is in its final stages of development and is likely to be released worldwide by the end of April 2004," informed regional manager, South East Asia and India for Corel, Ram Kumar.



The new version will have compatibility with MS office and WordStar. "There was a big need for compatibility with other software and this is what we are trying to address with our next version. With this version of WordPerfect, a user will be have options to work in an MS office environment or a WordStar environment," he added.





With an installed user base of more than 24 million all over the globe, WordPerfect is one of Corel’s most successful products. The company has a relationship with Wipro, where it is developing next generation products in association with its own R&D team in Canada.





"Corel started working with Wipro about three years back. Under this relationship, some part of our 100 plus R&D team is working closely with Wipro professionals to develop products like WordPerfect," Kumar explained.
