Corel announces digital art contest in Asia

BANGALORE, INDIA: Graphics biggie Corel has annoucned the Corel Asia-Pacific Digital Art Competition 2010. Running through August 31, 2010, the competition is said to have more than 150 prizes with a total value of around USD40,000 with a Grand Prize valued at USD10,000.

The competition includes Open and Student categories and is open to graphics-enthusiasts residing in Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Winners would be announced on October 15, 2010, and the entries would be featured on the Corel Website.

Speaking about the event, Juliet Kuo, Senior Director of Global Marketing at Corel said,  “It is an honour to announce our second Corel Asia-Pacific Digital Art Competition. Our goal in organizing this competition is to encourage both up-and-coming and established designers and to celebrate the tremendous depth of talent found across the Asia-Pacific region.  At Corel we are proud of our role in helping people express their creativity and we are extremely excited to be able to demonstrate our commitment to our region through this wonderful event.”

According to Corel, the entries can be static images or videos and must be produced using Corel software.  Contest submissions will be posted on the Corel website during the period of the competition, where visitors will help determine the winners by voting.  Winners will be chosen based on popular vote and opinions from a distinguished panel of judges.

if you choose not to have your own entry, you can still win by voting for your favourite entries, forwarding information to your network friends and by creating links to the competition on Websites and blogs.  A competition Facebook page enables entrants to share information and promote their entries.
