CHENNAI: Chennai based Laser Soft Infosystems Ltd, a banking software product
company, has successfully implemented ProBanker CB, a core banking solution at
Andhra Bank.
“This core banking solution is the first clustering technology based
solution in the country and can handle thousands of branches and is ideal for
large Indian public sector banks,” stated chairman of Laser Soft B Suresh
Kamath.
While addressing the media, Kamath further said that 140 branches of Andhra Bank
have gone 'live' under this core banking solution. The remaining branches of the
Bank would be benefiting before the end of March 2004.
This includes all rural branches of the Bank. “This would enable the
customers of Andhra Bank to conduct their banking transactions from any other
branch or ATM of Andhra Bank,” he added. Kamath also informed that presently,
the branches of the banks could be connected through either 'centralized mode'
of core banking or through 'cluster mode' of core banking.
In the core banking implementation through 'cluster mode', the branches would
be connected through 'zonal servers' to the 'central server'. This system would
ensure 'fail-safe' method to provide uninterrupted service to the customers.
According to Kamath, since the existing hardware could be used, the cost could
be reduced to one-third of the earlier method and there is no limitation in
terms of number of branches.
