NEW DELHI: Coral Telecom has developed an indigenous solution that allows the

seamless flow of voice and data over the existing telephone cable network.

Called Iris, the product has been developed in the company's in-house research

facility located at Delhi.

The product eliminates the need for laying a separate network of cables for

Ethernet and the necessity to split the signals at the user end. Developed on

the GLite platform, the product can route voice over IP calls to a regular

telephone instrument, in the process eliminating the need for expensive IP

telephones. "It is this advantage that makes the product truly cost

advantageous," says, Coral Telecom MD, Rajesh Tuli.

The company has built RAS capability within the switch, which treats every

connected analog device as a unique IP address. This allows a user to even make

VoIP calls like any regular call. "The switch can be programmed in a

multitude of ways to use VoIP and regular lines at one time or one in preference

over the other", added Tuli.

While the company is not looking at expanding its channel base, it is open to

working with partners with networking skill sets to develop and deploy Iris.

Coral is operating through 13 branches in the country and has a network of 110

partners to cover the unrepresented geographies. It has also opened an office in

Dubai to address the Gulf market.
