BANGALORE, INDIA: Driven by the value of giving back to the communities where they live and work, Convergys Bangalore employee volunteers who are part of the global Convergys Community Action Network (CAN), have partnered with Grace Fellowship Charitable Trust (GFCT), a Bangalore non-profit organization that provides support, shelter and vocational training to those in need.

Convergys Bangalore CAN's partnership with GFCT is a sustained relationship since the start of the year, and entailed multiple programs which were all focused on helping impoverished children gain access to educational opportunities.

In February 2013, Convergys Bangalore partnered with a technology client to provide a "Community Training Center" initiative for GFCT. Here, the employee volunteers helped underprivileged children get familiarized with basic computer knowledge. Further, in June 2013, employees raised up to Rs 100,000 which they donated to GFCT, from a successful food sales fund-raising effort.

Just this December, Convergys Bangalore CAN employee volunteers implemented a food sales drive in the site cafeteria, where more than 1,000 employees participated either by preparing and selling food, or buying them. It was another success, raising Rs 79,000. In addition, Convergys Bangalore received a supplemental Convergys CAN funding grant amounting to Rs 121,000. The combined amount (Rs 200,000) was once again donated to GFCT.

In the prior month of November, the employee s organized an event where they took the children of GFCT to the Bannerghatta National Park for a day of fun. It was a memorable experience for many of the kids, for whom it was the first time to see wild animals. During a donation hand-over ceremony between Convergys Bangalore CAN and GFCT in one of the site's recognition events, Father V.V. Charles, chairman and president of the Grace Foundation Charitable Trust expressed his gratitude for all the contributions of Convergys Bangalore employees, and the positive change they've brought to children in need.

Convergys Community Action Network (CAN), driven by our very own employees from every Convergys site in India and across the globe, removes barriers to education that include poverty and illness, and supports healthy communities in which educational opportunities thrive. We create a culture of caring by partnering with the communities in which we live and work, and in the example of Convergys Bangalore, demonstrate that we CAN make a difference!
