"Last year, we were involved in launching the Motorola range of

products. In the second year we will be focussing on establishing our reseller

network," explained Convergent Communications managing director Venkat

Kedlaya. CCIPL is aiming at establishing 15-20 resellers in the next two or

three months in major cities.

The company with its online support on the Web and its support offices in

Pune, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad also plans to set up one or two

more support locations by the end of March 2000.

The company has tied up with US-based Patton Electronics Co. to market the

latter’s 64K leased line modem and its 2MB digital leased line modem. CCIPL

has also been working towards a technical and financial collaboration with

Comtec Systems Co. Ltd. of Korea, for which Comtec would invest $200,000 in

CCIPL. As part of the deal Convergent would market Comtec's products such as

high-end LAN products, switches, Internet Routers and LCD monitors.

Mr Kedlaya added, "The LCD monitors could be the major product that we

would source from Comtec. This product should pick up in 3-6 months." For

the LCD monitors, the company has an exchange promotion offer that will run till

the end of March'2000. These LCD monitors are being marketed as a less power

consuming product that is environment friendly and unlike CRT's have no

radiation. CCIPL is expecting revenues of Rs 16 crore in 1999-2000 and a growth

of 25-30 per cent in 2000-2001.
