BANGALORE: Convergent Communications (India) Pvt. Ltd. (CCIPL) plans to
establish its channels and reseller network in the next financial year. The
Bangalore-based company is the national distributor for Motorola's Internet and
networking products.
"Last year, we were involved in launching the Motorola range of
products. In the second year we will be focussing on establishing our reseller
network," explained Convergent Communications managing director Venkat
Kedlaya. CCIPL is aiming at establishing 15-20 resellers in the next two or
three months in major cities.
The company with its online support on the Web and its support offices in
Pune, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad also plans to set up one or two
more support locations by the end of March 2000.
The company has tied up with US-based Patton Electronics Co. to market the
latter’s 64K leased line modem and its 2MB digital leased line modem. CCIPL
has also been working towards a technical and financial collaboration with
Comtec Systems Co. Ltd. of Korea, for which Comtec would invest $200,000 in
CCIPL. As part of the deal Convergent would market Comtec's products such as
high-end LAN products, switches, Internet Routers and LCD monitors.
Mr Kedlaya added, "The LCD monitors could be the major product that we
would source from Comtec. This product should pick up in 3-6 months." For
the LCD monitors, the company has an exchange promotion offer that will run till
the end of March'2000. These LCD monitors are being marketed as a less power
consuming product that is environment friendly and unlike CRT's have no
radiation. CCIPL is expecting revenues of Rs 16 crore in 1999-2000 and a growth
of 25-30 per cent in 2000-2001.
