Contract for Colorado State Portal renews

DENVER, US: The Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) has renewed the contract for Colorado Interactive, LLC, to continue to manage the state of Colorado’s official state Web portal for an additional four years. Colorado Interactive is part of the NIC family of companies and signed its original contract with the state in 2005.

The four-year contract extension was approved by the SIPA board of directors on May 6, 2010.

Colorado.gov is one of nation’s state Web portals and ranked as a finalist in the Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web competition for the past two years. Over the past five years, Colorado Interactive has worked with all three branches of government to launch more than 185 online services for the citizens and businesses of Colorado. In addition, Colorado Interactive has helped launch more than 60 agency, program, and municipal websites, with many more in development. The portal supports more than 4.2 million visits per month on average and processed more than 3.5 million secure transactions in 2009, as per a press release.

“Our unique public-private partnership with Colorado Interactive and NIC has been a tremendous success, delivering a large suite of state-of-the-art online services at little or no cost the taxpayers of Colorado,” said state senator Bill Cadman, chairman of the SIPA board of directors. “We look forward to another four years of innovative work with Colorado Interactive,” he said.

“The state of Colorado portal is one of the premier sites in the nation and we appreciate this vote of confidence,” said Harry Herington, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of NIC. “We will continue to leverage our innovative self-funded approach to provide additional enhanced online services at no upfront cost to Colorado’s businesses and citizens.”
