NEW DELHI: Conexant Systems will name its new Internet infrastructure
spin-off as Mindspeed Technologies. The new company will come into being when
Conexant separates into two entities.
Mindspeed Technologies will adopt the positioning tag line "Build It
First" to reflect its focus on helping customers get to market first in the
race to build an Internet infrastructure capable of communicating information at
ever-increasing speeds.
Raouf Halim, presently the senior vice president and general manager of
Conexant's Internet infrastructure business, will be the CEO of Mindspeed
Technologies.
Director of sales at Conexant Systems Hong Kong/China, Gerald Hamilton, will
head Mindspeed Technologies' operations in Asia-Pacific. The Internet
infrastructure business delivered revenues of US $580 million in Conexant's most
recent fiscal year, which ended September 30, 2000.
The Internet infrastructure business offers a complete portfolio of
semiconductor and software solutions ranging from physical-layer access devices
at the edge of the Internet up through switch fabric and network processor
products for the high-speed optical core.
