Comviva’s USSD FLARES (Framework to Launch Applications and Rapidly Evolve Services) will drastically reduce overall cost around Airtel Bangladesh’s operator portal, said a press release. The solution will also provide Airtel Bangladesh with a single-window web-based environment to access, create, execute and manage services.

The solution will optimally deliver messages with minimal latency during periods of intense continuous traffic. Rich SMS features such as SMS upload, SMS storage, SMS forward, SMS copy, auto reply, email notification, SMS signature and Web portal will facilitate Airtel to offer unique and innovative services to its subscribers.

Chris Tobit, chief executive officer and managing director, Airtel Bangladesh said, “With SMS traffic enjoying continued strong growth, we needed a proven solution to manage the increased load without making major investment. We selected Comviva’s messaging solutions to efficiently route traffic over our existing network infrastructure and deliver an improved level of service to our customers creating greater satisfaction and long-term loyalty.”

Comviva has also deployed its Bulk Messaging Gateway (BMG) solution, a high-capacity SMS platform that delivers cross-carrier messaging for enterprise customers. The BMG solution will create a new revenue opportunity for Airtel and will enable promotions and corporate messaging helping the operator deliver a better message management over SMS, the release added.

“With 5 billion mobile users globally able to access self-care services and content, there is great scope to extend the range of content and applications available via USSD and SMS to drive value added service usage. Having achieved success with deployments of messaging solutions across the globe, we are confident of adding value to Airtel's services in the region,” said Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva.

He added that Comviva is working with all the leading mobile operators in Bangladesh to provide them with end-to-end mobile solutions beyond VAS. Comviva’s messaging applications enable subscribers to interact with friends and discover new applications, driving service usage and enhancing revenue growth.
