NEW DELHI: Wipro Infotech has chosen Computer Vision under its new 'Pizza

Model', a business model, which will have Local Independent Manufacturers (LIMs)

across the four zones in India. Under the model, Hexacom Systems is already

manufacturing PCs for Wipro in Bangalore.

Starting in 1990, Computer Vision started providing CAD and other designing

solutions in Delhi and has come a long way from distributing computer systems to

offer IT solutions along with a PC brand 'Green Vision' in offering.

Contract manufacturing is common with other major PC brands such as Compaq,

but this is the first time that an Indian brand has forayed into it. Wipro is

thus decentralizing its manufacturing capacity from its Pondicherry unit.

Under the agreement, Computer Vision has offered its own PC assembling

facility, fully equipped with five stage production line which is capable of

holding 100 PCs at a time. The assembling infrastructure includes torque

settable electrical screwdriver and anti static work mats. Wipro will train the

manpower of this facility under its stringent manufacturing conditions.

The Wipro professionals in the LIM will do the quality assurance of the PCs

being assembled.

As soon as Wipro gets a PO from any of its distributors, its logistics

company will send the required amount of spare parts involved to manufacture.

The company will be responsible to assemble, test the PCs, pass it through the

requisite QA tests and forward it.

The model will benefit Wipro in various ways, cutting the transportation

cost, cutting the inventory stock up costs and also providing its customers its

products much faster than it used to be earlier.

Computer Vision will gain credibility and brand awareness across North India,

it will be appointed as C&F agent for Wipro and will be given a choice to

accept AMCs for the sold PCs. As of now it will be manufacturing the Voyager

brand for Wipro, which is targeted at the SOHO and the home segment.
