NEW DELHI, INDIA: India’s longest and biggest electronics exhibition kicked off at Pragati Maidan. The three-day exhibition, organised by Reed Exhibitions India, showcased complete solutions for all electronic manufacturing needs of electronic components, semiconductors, materials, SMT machines, soldering equipments, PCBs, tools & machinery instruments, tools & dies, cables & connectors, modules & sub-assemblies, power supplies, R&D and EMS services and much more.

Inaugurated by Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Member of Parliament, Indian National Congress and Jainder Singh, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, GOI, the show also witnessed some of the major industry experts from the electronics sector like Om Wadhwa (Past President, ELCINA and CMD JV Electronics), Satish Kaura (CMD, Samtel Color), VVR Sastry (CMD, BEL), and others.

Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi said: “The electronics business industry all over the world accounts for $400 billion in revenue out of which India is contributing to a mere $5 billion. Even out of that, 70 percent of the electronic products are imported, and the rest are being manufactured. This is a clear indication of the huge business opportunity in India.”

Talking about the growth in the electronics industry, Jainder Singh, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, said: “The electronics industry is the world’s fastest growing industry. With the Indian economy growing at around 8-9 percent over the last few years, the buying power of people has risen quite fast, leading to a rapid growth of consumption of electronic gadgets in the country. This has provided an opportunity for the manufacturing industry to raise production to satisfy demand."

According to a study by Frost and Sullivan, the market for electronics hardware is expected to grow by 30 percent per annum to $320 billion in 2015, and there is a potential for the domestic hardware manufacturing industry to grow to $155 billion in 2015.

Products on display catered to the requirements of different sectors like IT, Communications Technology, Medical Technology, Electrical and Electronics Technology and Engineering Institutions, Machinery and Plant Construction, Automotive Electronics, Aerospace Technology, Defence, Quality Control, Consumer Electronics, R&D, etc. A host of new products were launched during the event by both national and international exhibitors.

Apart from the unveiling of the latest technical know how in the industry during its three day tenure, CNI 09 also featured a world-class conference being organized in association with Electronics Industries Association of India (ELCINA).

The theme of this conference: ‘The growth opportunities in electronics manufacturing-The Road Ahead’, has been specially crafted keeping in mind that India is becoming the most favoured hub for the electronics manufacturing industry.

ELCINA Secretary General, Rajoo Goel said: “We are very optimistic about this conference as it will prove beneficial for the local electronics industry in helping them gain new knowledge & expertise from renowned industry leaders. This conference is organized keeping in mind the objective of charting a future course of action for the electronics industry in India.”
