HONG KONG: National Semiconductor Corp. and Accelerated Designs Inc. have collaborated on an Ultra Librarian Reader (ULR) to provide National's customers with schematic symbols and printed circuit board footprints for National's entire product portfolio including National's PowerWise family of energy-efficient, high-performance analog products.  This effort will accelerate time to market for every new customer design.

Delivered in a computer-aided design (CAD) vendor-neutral format, the ULR is free of charge and converts easily into a library compatible with any of the leading electronic design automation (EDA) design tools.  The ULR is a subset of the complete Accelerated Designs Ultra Librarian toolset and generates components and their attributes in virtually any EDA CAD/CAE format.

The ULR (both footprints and symbols) is available for download. The standard National footprints generated by the ULR are based on the IPC-7351 specification.  An enhanced version of the Accelerated Designs Ultra Librarian software is also available for purchase. The enhanced package enables software models to be modified and auto-generated to meet any user-defined requirement.

"National is committed to ease of use and helping its customers get into production as quickly as possible," said Phil Gibson, National's vice president of technical sales. "The Accelerated Designs Ultra Librarian library provides a flexible way to release symbol models in every format, for any customer, with the release of a new product making those customers more successful faster."
