Compaq launches portable computers

BANGALORE: Compaq has launched a new series of portable computers with three Compaq

Armada notebook lines. The Compaq Armada E 700 series a workstation class notebook,

delivers high performance workstation class computing experience and sets new standards

for mobile computing, offering the expandability and performance standards available

previously only with desktops, claims the company. The four-and-a-half pound Compaq Armada

M700 positions itself as the notebook for the enterprise customer who seeks the highest

performance level with the thinnest form factor.

Compaq Computer Asia Pacific Product Marketing Manager - Strategic Planning, Portable

PC Division Karen Fortuna said, " A result of Compaq's customer focussed approach,

the three families of notebooks launched offer everything the mobile users will need -

sleek looks, lightweight systems and convenience, with absolutely no compromise on

performance, functionality and expandability."

Compaq's new common docking solutions for the Armada family are targeted at lowering

the total cost of ownership of the enterprise by offering a complete suite of expansion

options covering all the user needs.

The Compaq ArmadaStation EM commits unlimited notebook expansion with full desktop

functionality. The Compaq Armada Convenience Base EM addresses port replication and

network connectivity. The Compaq Armada Port Replicator EM takes care of simple cable

management.

Compaq India Director - Products Kapil Jain said, " The new Compaq Armada families

now bring to the customer a new high level of expandability, convenience in portable

computing, unmatched on the parameters of performance, manageability and cost of

ownership."

Compaq mentioned that the portable market was emerging in India as mobile computing

brings in user convenience and also because portable computing would promote the

productivity of the mobile workforce, especially in security and manageability issues.
