Compaq launches Net access devices

BANGALORE: Compaq India has launched a range of Internet access devices

including the iPAQ Desktop, iPAQ PocketPC, thin clients and wireless Lan

solutions.

Compaq’s iPAQ Desktop is designed for employees who primarily use their PC

for mainstream office productivity applications and corporate Internet/Intranet

access. Prices start at Rs. 32,990 plus taxes (excluding monitor).

Compaq’s iPAQ Pocket PC, priced at Rs. 32,990 is expected to be available

in India by July ’00. This product offers personal information management

tools productivity and communication applications, automatic synchronization to

your desktop and a stylus based interface. Compaq also announced enhancements to

the intelligent manageability tools available on Compaq client platforms through

Altiris eXpress, Altiris PC Transplant Pro and PC Transplant, that offer the

customer an industry-standard solution for complete software management. Compaq

has also introduced Intel’s new SpeedStep, a design for the Pentium III, which

saves power and optimizes performance, and Intel’s new IPSEC, a security

enabled adaptor for LANS, which makes the Internet safer than ever.
