Compaq, ITI to set up expertise center

BANGALORE: Compaq India and Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly establish an "Expertise Center", which will help develop skills and knowledge base in the telecom sector. According to a release, while ITI will provide consultancy, training and integrate and customize solutions, Compaq will offer end-to-end technology solutions for e-commerce, telecom integrated network management systems, fraud management and deployment of billing solutions.



Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Ltd., Air Cmdr. (Retd.) Mr. S S Motial said, "The trend is to focus on the convergence of telecommunications, entertainment and information technology. To address the burgeoning IT business, ITI is pleased to team with Compaq India to provide leading edge technology and solutions. With the ITI Expertise Center, we intend to leverage our vast telecom expertise and infrastructure strengths to enable maximum returns on the IT investments of our customers and reduce the total cost of ownership."

Backed by our combined strength and expertise in the segment, we will be able to offer the best solutions to our customers," said Compaq India Managing Director Balu Doraisamy. "Compaq, as the leader in non stop e-business solutions, will bring in its leading edge technology platforms and software, and provide end-to-end solutions to telecom customers in India in association with ITI. Compaq’s globally proven solutions for e-commerce, ISPs and wireless/wireline operators, when combined with ITI’s telecom domain knowledge and experience will enable rapid deployment of these projects with reduced risks."



Compaq India will contribute its expertise in solution sets in the areas of e-commerce/ISP, fraud management, billing/data networking and TMN NMS. It will also provide inputs for training and consulting support. ITI will be treated as a preferred partner/value-added sub-contractor for TeMIP based NMS, e-commerce/ISP-based projects undertaken by Compaq India.



ITI will leverage its domain expertise in telecom and its vast experience in the Indian telecom industry to design and build ITI integrated solutions on Compaq’s telecom solutions, frameworks and products. The alliance will target the Indian national telecom network, defense and customers in the Asia Pacific region. ITI will also contribute in terms of consultants, analysts and technical specialists for the areas of collaboration with Compaq India.
