itself by entering into the e-business arena.

`Compaq Nonstop e-business' is about creating solutions that combine four

key dimensions: availability, scalability, manageability and security.

According to Compaq India Director-Strategic Government Initiatives and

Marketing Services Bringi Dev, "Compaq NonStop solutions are

engineered to enable customers to build, deploy and support secure

eBusiness, faster, more reliably, and with no visible down time. Compaq

provides industry standard products and solutions to simplify

installation, integration and management."

"eBusiness leverages and extends the investments made in

re-engineered business processes and new ERP applications deployed in the

last decade. The investments in messaging and collaboration, business

intelligence, industry and enterprise applications must be further

leveraged in order to achieve business goals," he added. According to

him, the challenge is the integration of those applications and the

creation of business disciplines focused on Knowledge Management, Customer

Relationship Management, and Global Value Chain. Today, to compete, a

business must be available 24 x 7 x 365 days. eBusiness enables faster

deployment, reduced risk and higher availability - to keep the business up

and running, and online. "For this, we have both core competencies

and specialized competencies supporting our NonStop Strategy. We can help

reduce cost/time/risk, provide solutions with best-of-breed partners and

lowers costs through industry-standard systems and volume

distribution," he explained.

Compaq is also planning to increase its network of call centers to

cover all metros and major cities this year. As and when permitted by the

government, it is very keen to set up toll-free numbers to improve its

access to the end customer. This will help companies in providing a strong

backup for the company's foray into e-business arena. Compaq India has

also bagged major orders from Tisco and Maruti Udyog for the current year.
