NEW DELHI: Compaq India and Macmet have announced an alliance to jointly
promote analog and digital interactive solutions across the Asia Pacific. This
partnership will address the new economy segments encompassing multimedia and
interactive TV, broadband, and Internet commerce.
Compaq India and Macmet are technology partners and Compaq products are being
used by Macmet to develop solutions for this segment. Compaq India will leverage
its reach in the target segments to deliver the solution through its enterprise
sales teams, with Macmet using its expertise on Compaq's platforms to deploy the
solution.
The partnership will market "Skundh", an interactive TV solution
comprising the head-end servers for service and network management, STB
applications and integration with mainstream broadcasting, Internet and video
servers. Skundh provides a unique blend of Internet with living room TV
entertainment.
According to Macmet Interactive Technologies managing director, Samir K

the Net on TV, it is a complete entertainment solution catering to the living
room environment."
The Macmet-Compaq India partnership addresses the consumer, head-end and
network challenges encountered by the service provider. According to Chatterjee,
"Service providers do not want a box. They want a complete solution from a
provider that will address their service and deployment issues."
