The committee will constitute of department officials and representatives of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Association of Unified Service Providers of India (AUSPI). It will give its report within three weeks for finalization of spectrum allocation criterion for licensed operators.

DoT said that it would decide on the allocation of spectrum to operators on the basis of recommendations from the committee and directions of TDSAT.

The decision comes after operators wrote to the DoT on the report submitted by the Telecom Engineering Center on enhancing the subscriber number for additional spectrum allocation.

The operators had moved TDSAT challenging the government decision on increasing the subscriber base for spectrum allocation and permission of dual technology under a single license.
