NEW DELHI: Commerce One India distribution operations has announced that it
is well on its way to commission the country's first ever energy e-marketplace.
The energy vertical is being set up for Gujarat State Fuel Management Company
(GSFMC) and is the first initiative of its kind by a public sector unit in the
country.
Slated to go live in a month's time, the e-marketplace is currently being
implemented. The energy e-marketplace will facilitate and smoothen the
transaction process for sale and purchase of various fuels. It will build a
community of buyers and sellers of energy and will provide a trading platform to
streamline the energy supply chain.
The e-marketplace will provide assistance to buyers and sellers during all
stages of the transaction process. This will include search of potential buyers
and sellers of various fuels, negotiating and closing contractual agreements,
negotiating prices, credit appraisals, matters pertaining to logistics and
transportation, insurance, risk mitigation and quality certification.
GSFMC is using the marketplace solution offered by Commerce One India
Distributor Operations customized to its requirements. PriceWaterhouseCoopers
will assist in the implementation.
"Commerce One has powered Trade Ranger & Pantellos, two of the
largest energy and utilities exchanges in the US and will leverage its expertise
in India for GSFMC," said Commerce One India Distributor Operations
Commerce One India Distributor Operations Vivek Agarwal. The energy exchange is
the first initiative of its kind being taken by a government company in India
and is indicative of the government's willingness to adopt and promote B2B
e-business solutions in the country, he added.
