Coimbatore Corporation gets Rs. 18 crore for e-gov projects

COIMBATORE, INDIA: The Union Ministry of Urban Development has sanctioned Rs. 18.06 crore to the Corporation of Coimbatore to implement an e-governance initiative.

The e-governance project will entail the issuance of birth and death certificates, payment of property tax, utility bills, grievance management system, issuance of building plan approvals, accounting system, and personnel management.

As per the proposal, the Corporation was willing to extend e-governance initiative to school management system, hospital management system, council management system, file tracking system, fleet management, online booking system, and document management system.

The Corporation had also proposed for the improvement of the existing system that included enabling submission of application online for birth and death certificates, issuance of online registration slips, and more security features.

The Corporation also wanted to roll out GIS and GPS tracking system, and facility to manage and deploy workers in solid waste management.
