Cognizant assessed at P-CMM Level 5

BANGALORE: Chennai based Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation has been assessed at level 5 of the People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM) version 2.0, becoming the first company to be assessed at Level 5 across all its development centers in India. The company claimed through a media release.

The P-CMM framework, developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University, defines organizational maturity of people processes and practices on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. Cognizant’s assessment was done by KPMG.

"Being assessed at P-CMM Level 5 across all our development centers in India, which include the majority of our 5,000 worldwide associates, means that we have the most ‘people power’ in our business," said, Cognizant Senior Vice President Chandra Sekaran. "Cognizant has institutionalized its industry-leading people processes and practices. Every day, our customers see the ‘can-do’ attitude of our people in a vibrant and progressive organizational culture. Because we have the best people and related processes we continue to assert leadership in the offshore industry."

"Cognizant has gained rich benefits from its strong people processes," said SEI Authorized Lead Assessor for P-CMM S Ravichandran. "Cognizant’s focused approach to continuous innovation and improvement of people have had a positive impact on meeting organizational business objectives."

Cognizant was chosen by IDC as having the most satisfied employees in the Indian IT industry in 2001, and was assessed at CMM Level 5 in 2000 for software delivery capabilities.
