SAN FRANCISCO: CNET Networks Inc. on Monday said it bought Windup Labs and its HeyPix online photo-sharing service to complement its own Webshots property.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

HeyPix, started in late 2004, helps users organize, tag and edit photos. It also has tools to share photos with friends and export photos to Web logs, or blogs, said Martin Green, CNET's senior vice president in charge of Webshots.

Green said the acquisition "is not material to the size of our business" and will not have a material impact on financial results.

Windup Labs' three employees will move from Boston to San Francisco to incorporate the technology into Webshots, he added.

The purchase is the first this year by the San Francisco- based provider of online technology news, product reviews and software, music and game downloads. CNET made several acquisitions in 2004, including Webshots.

The deal comes amid other high-profile acquisitions of online photo service companies.

Internet media company Yahoo Inc. bought photo- sharing site Flickr in March. Soon after, Hewlett-Packard Co. announced its plan to purchase online photo service company Snapfish to capitalize on the fast-growing online photo printing market.
