NEW DELHI: CMS Computers of Mumbai has tied up with Datacard and OCE to offer
personalization solutions for banking, telecom and government sectors. While CMS
offers its expertise in integration and personalization solutions, Datacard is a
leading hardware vendor and OCE is a leader in digital machines printing
documents at lightning speeds. CMS hopes to provide solutions to the Home,
External Affairs and Defence ministries for national ID cards, passports, ID
cards for defence personnel, driving licenses for various transport
organizations around the country and e-governance for the state and central
governments.
CMS has already won a major contract from the government of Andhra Pradesh to
provide total solutions for e-governance. The project called TWINS (Twin Cities
Network Services) will provide the citizens of the twin city of Hyderabad and
Secunderabad selected services and information on departments and agencies of
the state and central governments. These services are to be provided in a
reliable manner through a chain of computerized integrated citizen service
centers (ICSCs). In other words, the project would offer one-stop services to
the public through multiple delivery channels such as ICSCs, and access through
the Web. The solution to be provided by CMS would cover six departments and 18
services spread across 20 centers. Services to be offered would include utility
bills and tax payments, issuing and registration of certificates, information
dissemination, facilitation services and G2C services as decided by the
government of Andhra Pradesh.
CMS with a revenue turnover of Rs 300 crore is also a major systems
integrator in the country. It has executed many networking projects in the
banking sector including those for the NSE, IDBI, Stock Holding Corporation,
Citibank and ABN Amro. Set up in 1976, the company started operations with focus
on the support and maintenance market. The company, which is now into software
development, also offers smart card solutions. CMS has provided smart card
solutions for Grindlays Bank, GE Capital and Citibank.
