BANGALORE: Component Management Group (CMG) is opening a

component academy in Bangalore next month for providing high-end education

services in component technologies. This was disclosed by CMG chief technology

officer R. Srinivasan.

Giving details of the course, the academy would offer well-defined courseware

and expertise in component technology. The course is for a period of one year,

consisting of four three-month semesters. In the third and fourth semester, the

students have to work on live projects for which they are paid a stipend. CMG

expects at least 50 students to enroll in the first batch.

After the completion of the course, the students would be called Component

Academic Graduates (CAG) and they can position themselves as component analysts,

component architects or component developers or programmers. The world's first

component academy was set up at Chennai in January 1999 with 60 students in the

first batch. The second batch would commence soon. CMG plans to set up Component

Academies across the Asia-Pacific and Europe to create a global resource base of

component technology consultants.
