CM to inaugurate BangaloreIT.com

BANGALORE: Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka, Dharam Singh, will inaugurate the seventh edition of the annual industry extravaganza, BangaloreIT.com. Touted as the largest ever, this year the event has attracted over 290 companies, according to the organisers-Department of IT and BT, STPI and CyberMedia Events.

Sharing the honor with Singh would be PGR Sindhia, Minister for Industry and Infrastructure, Government of Karnataka, Marsha Thomson, Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Government of Victoria, Australia and Sir Michael Arthur, British High Commissioner in India.

Delegates from 15 foreign countries have confirmed their participation. Among the foreign countries participating in the event, the major ones are U.S.A, U.K, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, HongKong, Singapore China, Oman, Taiwan, Czech Republic.

Among other things, the event, for the first time, has focussed on media along with the regular information and communication technologies. It has also introduced a dedicated pavilion for animation and games sector, a pavilion each on digital lifestyle and spectrum and a BPO and career mart.

MK Shankaralinge Gowda, Secretary to Government, Department of IT and Biotechnology and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, said, "Bangalore IT.COM 2004 has many new elements that make it not only the most comprehensive window to the ICT world but also a significant platform that sets the agenda for the sector."

The major companies participating at this year's event include Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Moser Bear, APC, Reliance, Satyam, Airtel, Hathway, Tata Tele Services, ICICI OneSource, Progeon, Peopleone Consulting, Convergys, 24/7 Customer Asset, Transworks, Iomega Pacific, Palas Software, Animaster, Accent Infoways etc to name a few.

BV Naidu Director, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) added, "Bangalore IT.COM 2004 will host a series of conferences and discussions which will feature several industry experts who will address core business issues relevant to the industry. On the conferences front, the setting up of Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) during Bangalore IT.COM will give more focus to the semiconductor industry."
