Mumbai, India: Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a non-profit organization, which promotes the use of best practices for providing security assurance for cloud,computing, and educating the emerging technology platform opened its Mumbai chapter on Tuesday.
With over 18000 members globally both professionals as well as corporate members, CSA Mumbai chapter got strong response with over 250 members making it the largest chapter in the world since the body was formed two years back.

According to Keith Prabhu, KPMG’s associate director and founder director of CSA Mumbai chapter, about 258 professionals largely from BFSI sector have joined the chapter.
“CSA Mumbai chapter and its members will focus in the areas of education and research of cloud computing architecture, governance and enterprise risk management, application security, identity and access management,” Prabhu said.
"Cloud’s security remains the burning issue and remains a key inhibiter of Cloud adoption. In overcoming the security concerns, the Cloud Security Alliance will play a key role in defining the best practices and guidance for the adoption of cloud computing,” Nitin Khanapurkar, KPMG’s executive director and member of CSA Mumbai chapter.
While, Vijay Mukhi, IT security expert and cloud evangelist pointed that cloud is the single biggest thing that could happen in the world; however added that IT experts and technologists need to convince the society on the benefits of clouds and its adoption.
“By creating tutorials and content on cloud in different languages and sharing with people will help to educate and create awareness on the emerging cloud technology,” Mukhi suggested.
According to Jim Reavis, CSA founder and executive director, India represents a very important part of the future of cloud computing and expect that many of the cloud providers will be Indian owned and many of the cloud operators will also be from India.
“There is a lot of cloud security research going on and I look forward to having Indians and members of the Cloud Security Alliance, Mumbai chapter involved", Reavis said in his video message on the commencement of Mumbai chapter.
