BANGALORE, INDIA: While many cloud adopters find it difficult to measure its results, many others do not have the right systems in place to measure it.

These are the findings of a survey conducted by The Open Group. According to the survey a majority (51 per cent) said that return on investment from a cloud project is hard to evaluate and justify, whereas, 65 per cent of them have admitted that they do not have any mechanism in place to measure ROI for cloud computing initiatives. Cost is still considered as the primary cloud ROI metric by a majority of these organisations.

The survey also finds that hybrid cloud and increasingly private cloud are the preferred models of cloud that are being adopted by a majority of users. However, security still remains the biggest concerns, followed by interoperability and vendor lock-in for cloud.

Moreover, though most of the respondents (82 per cent) expect that their cloud initiative will significantly impact one or more business processes, many (56 per cent) are still not prepared for changes it will bring to their business processes.
