BANGALORE, INDIA: Citrix Systems, Inc., today announced that it is demonstrating an early version of Citrix Receiver for Android mobile phones, this week at iForum Singapore.
Citrix Receiver already gives iPhone users instant access to Windows applications from anywhere with a lightweight client that can be downloaded directly from the Apple App Store.
By extending this capability to Android mobile devices, the company is giving this same access to Windows apps for a whole new generation of mobile devices, said a press release.
Citrix Receiver is a lightweight universal software client that makes easy accessing applications and IT services on any device.
The receiver features an extensible architecture with plug-ins that communicate with desktop virtualization products.
It supports PCs, laptops, netbooks, thin clients and smart phones and is set to become a ubiquitous software client for accessing corporate applications and data, said the release.
Citrix Receiver for Android brings additional corporate functionality to this emerging platform.
The Citrix Android Receiver is also part of a broader strategic effort to bring enterprise management to mobile devices in collaboration with Open Kernel Labs.
Citrix Receiver for Android tech preview would be available for download in the second half of 2009, added the release.
