Cisco to promote security research

CHANDIGARH, INDIA: The UT administration plans to tie up with Cisco, IT network company, to promote research in the field of cyber security.

The formal agreement is likely to be finalized in the coming months. Hacking in networking is one of the priority areas for research under cyber security issues.

UT IT director Manjit Brar said since the administration has established the Cyber Security Research Centre in collaboration with PEC and NASSCOM, discussions were recently held with Cisco representatives for some mutual areas of cooperation in cyber security research.

The administration has identified three areas: training of researchers, designing and execution of professional courses and donation of equipment. Further discussions are being carried on with Cisco.
