CHENNAI: Cisco Systems has launched intelligent networked manufacturing (INM)
strategy for the manufacturing vertical, which according to the company will be
third biggest enterprise vertical to use IT solutions following BFSI and public
sector.
According to Cisco Systems (HK) Ltd. Business Development Manager
(manufacturing & emerging verticals APAC enterprise marketing), Eric Floyd,
INM consists of an intelligent information network that will provide resiliency
and responsiveness to help ensure data visibility and flexibility across all
functional areas of a manufacturing company with the ultimate goal of maximizing
customer value and increasing profitability.
“In India our vision is to provide intelligent network infrastructure to
the manufacturing vertical that is highly scalable, available, secure and easily
manageable. Where India is today being looked upon as the global outsourcing hub
for manufacturing, companies over here have to build a robust infrastructure to
meet the quality demand of its customers.
Cisco has been an important component of India’s ITeS, in a similar fashion
we will tap in the potentials available in the manufacturing segment by
providing the INM strategy for them to compete with the global players. We are
bullish on replicating the success in ITeS,” remarked Cisco Systems (India) Business
Development Manager, Anil Bhasin.
Cisco is identifying partners focused on the manufacturing vertical who can
provide integrated services. This is in addition to the existing channel
partners who will help in implementing INM. Auto & auto ancillary segment,
pharmaceutical, consumer durable, power & energy, oil & gas, healthcare,
hospitality are some of the sub-verticals that Cisco has identified for its INM.
According to a Frost & Sullivan report, the manufacturing sector is
expected to emerge as the top spender on network equipment among all the
verticals considered which include healthcare, government, professional
services, banking and finance, retail and wholesale & distribution.
