NEW DELHI: Cisco has organized a two-day technology showcase focused on the
leading technologies and solutions for next generation communication
infrastructure such as content delivery networks, IP+optical, wireless, IP
contact centers and architecture for voice, video and integrated data.
John Chambers, president and CEO of Cisco Systems on his first visit to
India, will deliver a special keynote address at the event. Chambers, an
Internet visionary, is charting the company’s future in the Internet arena.
There were two tracks simultaneously featuring topics as varied as Content
Delivery Networks by Tej Kohli, Evolution of Next Generation Public Networks:
IP+Optical by Doug Farndale, Security Issues in a Network by Bernie Trudel and
Wireless Technology by Mike De Lo.
A design center that demonstrates technology and products is a part of the
event. One of the interesting products on display was an IP-based phone, which
first goes through the IP network into the usual PSTN lines and back into the
IP-based phones, all enabled by Cisco products. Products like cable modems and
cable head-ends were also on display. And according to Cisco officials, most
cable distribution companies in the country like Zee Telefilms, and Siticable
who have been experimenting with providing Internet over cable have been using
Cisco technology.
