BANGALORE: Cisco Systems, Inc., the networking major, has been selected by
Oracle Corp., the largest provider of software for e-business, to build a
next-generation network for the Oracle software development center in Bangalore.
The new network will enable Oracle to meet the high-bandwidth and security
demands of its center.
To be based on Cisco’s Catalyst 6500 switching platform, the network will
provide Gigabit Ethernet connectivity at the core and Fast Ethernet (10/100
Mbps) links to the center’s 1,000 users.
"We selected Cisco Systems as our networking provider because of their
technology innovation and ability in building large secure intelligent
communication networks that scale to handle bandwidth increases, new users and
next-generation applications. Our new center in Bangalore will be an important
global hub for our worldwide software development requirements and we needed a
reliable networking partner," said Oracle India Development Center
executive director Ranjan Chak.
