Cisco Systems president and CEO John Chambers informed this while announcing an investment initiative totaling $1.1 billion in India.

Chambers said, “We don't take the first step unless we are confident of taking the second and the third step. The company is looking hard at taking the first step towards manufacturing in India. We would first like to set up basic manufacturing and then develop the capability. Maybe next year when I come to India, I would have some plans to share with you regarding this.”

He added that over the next couple of months the company's top manufacturing people would be coming into India to take a hard look at this.

Bullish on India's growth prospects he said, “With a six percent- seven percent growth in GDP, good infrastructure, good education scenario, innovation and a good government, India has a good thing going for itself. We have had a growth rate of 50 percent over the last two years and expect the company to grow by 30 percent over the next three — five years in India. We also expects India to have the largest sales for the company in Asia in the next three — five years.”
